Nicknamed “Tom Thumb”, the tiny baby has become the world’s smallest surviving boy, weighing only 275g (9.7oz).
A spokesperson for the hospital said that doctors were confident the child would lead a normal, healthy life. He added: “The danger has passed. He was most vulnerable when his organs were underdeveloped. Now he is the weight of a normal baby and healthy in every way.”
The baby boy was born in June last year during the 25th week of pregnancy by Caesarean section at the University of Medicine at Goettingen.
Medical professionals do not expect babies weighing less than 350 grams (0.77 pounds) to survive. He is truly a “miracle” baby. He spent 6 months in intensive care and was finally discharged in December 2009 after he had grown to 3.7 kilograms (8.1 pounds).
Some people are commenting that they are “gross” and I totally disagree! Every life is precious; premature or not, it is a gift from God!

I don’t think it’s gross. I think is a miracle that the baby survived. If you are the one of the people that saying that it’s very “gross” you guys disgust me and that is very rude. Sam(Quote)
