Mangosteen has been one of my favorite fruits ever since. The purple fruit, mangosteen, is technically known as “Garcinia mangostana“. It’s kinda like my other favorite fruit, “Lansones” or “lanzones” (Lansium domesticum), except that the Lanzones is much more smaller and has a translucent white pulp. Anyway, last Sunday, my mom and I went to the mall. While we were at the bookstore looking for some health books, I saw a book about mangosteen and I read it for a while. I never knew that my favorite fruit is claimed to have several health benefits!

I’ve only read one story in the book:

They had a patient wherein his skin was all red, hot and swelling; He can’t speak properly because his lips was swelling as well and swallowing was even more painful. They’ve almost tried everything to cure his condition; mangosteen was their last resort. After a few days, the patient called them and he can speak a bit clearly than before and the swelling gradually subsided. He then recovered from his condition within a month or so.

Mangosteen stimulates the immune system and promotes good mental health. Some people use mangosteen for the treatment/prevention of the following conditions:

Arthritis

Tumor

Cancer — shown to be capable of killing cancer cells.

Dysentery

Diarrhea

Eczema

Gonorrhea

Menstrual problems

Thrush

Tuberculosis

Urinary tract infections (UTIs).

Others reported that it is,

an energy booster

a powerful anti inflammatory

analgesic — prevents pain.

anti-oxidant

anti-aging

Anti-depressant

Anti-Alzheimerian — helps prevent dementia.

and a lot more ~

But of course, nothing takes place of eating fresh fruits and vegetables. Follow the food pyramid to acquire the vitamins and minerals that your body needs. You can use mangosteen to boost the antioxidant content in your diet. Take your antioxidants everyday and fight the effects of aging.

There has been some reports that alcohol and drug abuse among women, especially teenagers, have increased. Alcohol abuse is a pattern in drinking that involves one or more of the following within a 12-month period:

Failure to accomplish responsibilities and tasks in school, work, or home.

Drinking in a physically dangerous situation, like driving under the influence of alcohol.

Continued drinking despite having ongoing problems in relationships with other people that are caused or worsened by the effects of alcohol.

Some women uses drug and alcohol usually in order to lose weight, depression, relieve stress, peer pressure, etc. That is why there are drug and alcohol rehabilitations for women like The Orchid Recovery Center for Women, to help them recover from their addiction step by step.

We may not be able to help them physically and socially but we can help them financially by donating even a small amount. Orchid Recovery Center Charities has partnered with KIVA to help low-income women entrepreneurs all over the world. This will help them to have a stable income and help their families.

I’ve learned a lot from reading Orchid Center Charity Blog. They have state-of-the-art facilities and various treatment programs that also includes yoga, fitness, art therapy, acupuncture, and a lot more. There has been some studies that women and men heal differently; that is why Orchid was made and designed exclusively for women. This is to build trust and support among each other.

You can visit their blog and website to know more information about their rehabilitation center.

My Aunt, who is a doctor, and my cousin suggested me to take Diane 35 to control my acne breakout last summer, which was caused by hormonal imbalance. My cousin had an acne breakout when she came home from Taiwan two years ago; she was really desperate because graduation is 3 months away and pimples just keeps popping on her face. Of course, she consulted an OB Gynecologist which was one of her mom’s friends. Her face was acne-free after 2 months of taking Diane. Now, she only gets pimples before her period.

Acne is caused by excessive production of hormones called androgens. If your system is producing extra androgens, your oil-producing glands will produce more oil which will cause more acne.

There were some reports of common side effects from women who took Diane 35:

dizziness

nausea

breast pain, tenderness, or swelling

mood swings

vomiting

weight gain or loss

I think the side effects depends on each person. As for my cousin and I, we didn’t experienced any negative side effects. After taking Diane 35 for the first month, I’ve noticed my skin getting more clearer, my skin became super less oily than before, no abdominal cramps and my menstrual cycle became regular.

If you’re going to use Diane 35 for the first time, I advice you to consult with an OB Gynecologist first to know whether or not Diane 35 is safe for you. Yes, we all want to be beautiful, but our health comes first.

If you’re having second thoughts on taking an oral contraceptive pill, then I’d like to recommend F2F (face to face) — Tried and tested! It’s guaranteed to have no negative side effects!

Have you tried taking an oral contraceptive pill? What was your experience? ^^

Have you guys heard of F2F (Face To Face)? My other dermatologist suggested that I should try F2F a month ago when I had a breakout. I have a very oily and sensitive skin, meaning my skin is very acne prone. There are times that my skin is very clear and there are also times that I’m experiencing breakouts. I remember one of my dermatologist asked me if I often feel hot, I answered yes. She said I have tiny bumps popping up on my face and it’s not acne. So she advised me to at least wash my face with cold water and if I’m not in an air-conditioned room, the fan should be directed to me.

When I started taking F2F, I started to see little effects for a week. I noticed that I’m a bit less oily than before. Then for 1 month, my face became less oily and I don’t see tiny zits anymore. I’m very happy with this product! What’s even more good about this product is that it contains Praventin™ which is clinicaly proven to clear acne. It has an anti-microbial, anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Praventin is based on milk’s many bioactive components with specific physiological efforts to support a healthy complexion from the inside. It helps reduce the redness from inflammation and helps repair the damaged cells caused by blemishes.

The recommended intake of F2F is to take 1 capsule every morning and evening (2 daily), 30 minutes before meal. It advises the consumers to take F2F for at least two months — My dermatologist advised me to take it for at least 3 months though. Recommended daily intake should not be exceeded.

The Ingredients of F2F are:

Lactoferrin

Milk protein

Capsule; Hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose, microcrystalline cellulose and silicon dioxide.

Praventin™

Contents: 60 vegetable capsules, 30 days supply.

2 capsules contain typically

Lactoferrin 160MG

Milk Protein 40MG

F2F is a food supplement that helps to maintain a healthy skin from within. F2F has not been reported to cause any side effects and has no known contraindications for use during pregnancy and breast feeding. There also has been a study that the oral intake of F2F is statistically and clinically significant in reducing the blemishing associated with acne effecting both the face and body, as acne does not only affects the face. Showing a 71% decrease in complexion blemishes after one month and 95% after two months.

Acne is a treatable condition and should be therefore be dealt with as soon as possible. Even though acne can clear on it’s own, we wouldn’t want our face to get crowded with acne now do we? We all want to have a beautiful clear skin. We should take care of our body both internally and externally.

Other drugs in the market are associated with side effects such as dizziness, nausea, depressions, birth defects, etc. That’s why F2F is very safe, the natural benefits and lack of side effects associated with F2F make it the ideal solution to such a prevalent and self esteem damaging condition.

I recommend F2F to everyone =) You can buy it from your dermatologist, if they have. You can also buy from ebay and other online retailers.

A lot of people — Children, Women & Men — are infected with HIV. Did you know that 24.5 million peoples in Sub-Saharan Africa are living with HIV and 2.5 million people died from HIV/AIDS diseases in 2006. The HIV prevalence in Sub-Saharan Africa is 6.1% among those aged 17-49? (source) If you never had unprotected sex or have been exposed to HIV during work or medical procedures, then there’s a little possibility of you having HIV.

You won’t be able to tell if you’re infected with HIV because it can take about 3-6 months for the antibodies to be detected. AIDS or HIV symptoms are not specific and cannot be diagnosed through symptoms alone. What if you’re pregnant and you weren’t aware that you’re infected with HIV? There’s a possibility that HIV can be passed to your baby during pregnancy, during birth or by way of breast feeding.

That’s why it’s best to take an HIV test. Some people are frightened of taking the test thinking it might result to a positive. They don’t know that the longer they delay the test, the more they will be stressed about it. People should be informed about hiv testing. Taking the test is the best option because it’s better to know your condition than not knowing about it at all. So if you think that you might be infected with HIV, I advice you to take the test 3 months after the last time you were at risk.
